Renzo joined SPF:a in 2017 as a member of the design team. He has contributed to the early design development of several of the studio’s most intricate projects, including the Barilla Pavilion International Design Competition, the Crossroads Performing Arts Center, and the Harper Condominiums.
Renzo graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from Cal Poly Pomona; his studies focused on how historic preservation, density, transportation, housing and education come together to impact cities. He is adept at applying his knowledge of these broader, macro topics to the design challenges posed at the architectural scale.
Two influential periods of his undergraduate studies include his time as an artist's assistant for Brad Howe, and his time spent studying abroad in China. The latter stressed the importance of understanding a place's context and history before crafting a solution—an ethos that aligns with the design philosophy of SPF:a.
Renzo is an active member of the Urban Land Institue (ULI) of Los Angeles. He serves on the ULI Programs Committee and is part of the ULI Los Angeles Young Leaders Group (YLG).
